Diamond Head

Diamond.Head.Shelly.TJ

The Daw's, Duvernay's and Sommer and I headed up Diamond Head on Saturday morning. Not much of a hike, but a nice stroll to the top for some great views of Waikiki, Honolulu and the Ewa Plain.

I usually like to go first thing in the morning, but we started around 8 am, which made for a lot of tourists on the trail.

The thing I like about Diamond Head is that it only takes a few minutes to reach the summit.

The hardest parts are the stairs. The tunnels aren't very fun either.

The trail terminus offered great views of Waikiki and Honolulu.

We went out to the second pillbox this time.

I would post some pictures of the inside of the second bunker, but the graffiti isn't appropriate for a family blog. The second bunker did offer some interesting views of the Diamond Head trail terminus.

After a few minutes at the top, we made our way back to the parking lot and Mike's truck that we car pooled in. As typical of Diamond Head on a Saturday morning...it was packed!!! Traffic jam!

We piled into Mike's pick-up and headed off to the KCC farmer's market...for more crowds.

Then to Kuru Kuru for lunch.

  1. Man I've been meaning to get over and check it out. I haven't been up there in years and want to see it after the State put all that work into it.

  2. The State hasn't finished yet. From the progress I've seen, looks like it might be a "job security" project now...don't know how long til they finish.

  3. Ya that second bunker was very family appropriate... haha! I like the shot of us on the bunker. Very crisp and clear. Post process?
